My Trip to Wallbuilders

Hey my friend! I hope you are doing well!

As you may know, I recently had the opportunity to visit The Wallbuilders Museum in Aledo, TX to see parts of one of the largest private collections of documents and artifacts from the time of our founding.

I went there with my good friend Alex, who lives in Dallas. Here we are in front of a wall of letters written by the signers of the Declaration of Independance:

The museum and its items are owned by David Barton, who teaches America’s Judeo-Christian history all over the nation. In my opinion, he is one of the most needed voices in our generation, because so few Americans really understand our Godly heritage, including believers.

The reason why it is so important to know our history, is not only because of the multitude of lessons we can learn, but because it is abundantly clear once you dive into Americas true story that our nation is a byproduct of countless numbers of miracles done over many generations. From the pilgrims, to the revolution, to world war 2- strong men and women of faith working under the all-powerful force of God’s Providence are what brought this nation to what it is.

As a sidenote to that- in the Hebrew scriptures and culture, it is imperative for every person to know what God has done for the nation from the time of thier youth. This is partly done by teaching the scriptures but also by celebrating and commemorating the various feasts, chief among them the Passover. This immerses each person into key elements of how God alone is the One to thank for the founding of the nation and instills an even greater faith in God through knowing the testimonies.

As it relates to us in America- knowing, acknowledging and teaching our American history is our version of honoring the passover. It gives us a remembrance of how God is so big that He can literally manifest, establish and protect a nation through miracles and people who trusted in Him.

This teaching of David Barton’s is a great place to start to get the jist of what I’m talking about. It gives a powerful overview of many key moments in our history and most of it is even shot on location at the various sites. I encourage you to check it out:

And without further adieu, here are a few things I saw while at the musum.

Government proclamations for prayer and fasting:

Proclamations declaring a day of Thanksgiving:

Two original copies of the first English bibles printed in America. Published by our congress in 1782:

This is the inside of the bible where it says that congress recomends it to every inhabitant of the nation:

A copy of the speech made by Daniel Webster where he talks about how it was a sign from God that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died of old age in different colonies, on the 50th anniversary of the founding- July 4th, 1826

And speaking of John Adams- he was on fire. This is a letter that he wrote where he talks about the “Holy Ghost” and how He is the one “who carries on the whole Christian system in this world”. He even says in the letter that Holy Spirit can be transferred by the laying on of hands.

So cool that God made him our second President!

Here are a few other things that were pretty neat to see. A musket and a pistol that were used in the Revolutionary War

And a ring owned by Alexander Hamilton that contains a lock of….George Washingtons hair!

What else was cool about the day was that when we stopped to get gas along the way to the Museum, the total amount it took to fill the tank was $58.12.

When I saw this I immedately thought of Isaiah 58:12-

“Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

This felt like the biggest sign on the way out there because I have felt like for so long that if/when people really understand our Godly heritage- something will activate in them to make them want to put in effort to restore it to what it once was.

Then, we saw this hat on sale at the gift shop- Alex said it was such a huge confirmation of that message, so he bought it and said he wanted to wear it everywhere:

If you want to go even deeper into our history, I suggest picking up a copy of David Barton’s book “The American Story.” I’ve also got some copies coming soon if you’d like one as a gift.

Hope you enjoyed these! God bless!
